German Cello c.1910, ½ Size

Old, good condition, fractional sized cellos are quite rare so it’s always a treat for us to come across a nice ½ size cello that’s been well looked after. This particular cello has been in the same family for around half its life and that careful stewardship has allowed us now to enjoy this charming child’s sized instrument.

Made in Saxony, Germany, a little after the turn of the 20th century, this lovely little cello has a two piece maple back, a two piece spruce top and nicely flamed sides and head with a light, warm gold varnish. It is in practically mint condition.

It is fitted up to our ‘Master’ standard with a Belgian bridge and Larsen strings and has a nice slim neck for the smaller hand. With a warm rich sound, this cello would be a perfect heirloom quality instrument for the deserving, talented, miniature cellist!
